Calico Bags


Calico Bags


Over the past 20 years both from extensive research and from field experience, Westernex  now
produces the highest quality and most reliable calico bags for use in the mining and exploration
industries.  Westernex calico bags excellent for collecting soils, rock samples, core and mineral samples and are an essential component in any exploration and geology kit.

Manufactured using an environmentally friendly process calico is a plain woven textile made from
unbleached and not fully processed cotton.

Our calico bags come in two forms – the drawstring calico bag and the tape tie calico bag – both
forms come in a broad range of sizes (see below). The drawstring is made out of the same material
as the bag (i.e. cotton) while the tape tie version is made from strong cotton and is designed for
quick and easy bag sealing.

Westernex’s calico bags have double stitched inner seams which enhance durability and prevent any
loss of sample finds.

These finely woven yet heavy duty calico bags are stitched with rot proof nylon thread so they will
not split due to any field sourced putrefaction.

With an added benefit that calico will never loose ink from sample labels/identification, calico bags
are indispensible in the field.
